Sands Capital’s Danielle Menichella, portfolio manager of the International Growth Strategy, was featured on Bloomberg Intelligence’s Inside Active podcast, discussing how we invest with conviction in international markets. From Japan’s quiet resurgence to overlooked opportunities in Europe, Danielle explains how we identify businesses built to lead and grow—regardless of the noise.

“This is a time in particular when we need to be extra focused on choosing the best businesses—the ones that have things like competitive moats and the ability to grow and are innovative, regardless of what’s happening in the rest of the world,” said Danielle.

Danielle shares how she and her team apply a business owner’s mindset to search for durable, innovative businesses outside the U.S. While monitoring major secular trends, the strategy strives to avoids overconcentration by investing across diverse sectors such as e-commerce, semiconductors, and high-end consumer retail—resulting in a portfolio that looks meaningfully different from the benchmark.

She also discusses navigating global uncertainty, including tariffs, by focusing on companies with strong fundamentals that can thrive through market cycles.

The episode expands on Sands Capital’s belief in long-term growth, creative thinking, and disciplined research to identify businesses built to thrive across market environments.
