Spencer is a partner and portfolio manager at Sands Capital Horizons. He joined Sands Capital in 2025.
Before joining the firm, Spencer was a partner and founding member of Guardian Point Capital, a concentrated, long-oriented hedge fund established in 2012. At Guardian Point, Spencer invested across geographies and market capitalizations, seeking to identify investment opportunities that featured high-quality business franchises run by experienced management teams. He covered sectors ranging from technology to industrials and also co-led the firm’s hedging, futures, and derivatives trading.
Prior to Guardian Point Capital, Spencer was head of research at The Fiduciary Group, an investment advisor to high-net-worth families. At The Fiduciary Group, he primarily focused on equity and credit security selection and trading. Spencer began his career as an analyst at Cotton Hall Asset Management, a European-focused long-short hedge fund.
Spencer received a BS in commerce from the UVA McIntire School of Commerce.
