Mark is a venture partner at Sands Capital Alternatives. He began working with Sands Capital as an advisor in 2019 and joined the firm full time in 2021.
Mark is a respected cybersecurity industry professional with significant technical, operational, and investment experience that includes developing covert and clandestine communication systems for the Central Intelligence Agency, serving as director of technology at Cigital where he was responsible for the company’s original security business, serving as vice president of technology at In-Q-Tel (now IQT) where he was responsible for the firm’s cybersecurity investments for more than nine years, and cofounding Mobile System 7, a cybersecurity start-up that he led as CEO from inception through acquisition.
Mark received a BS in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MS in systems engineering from Virginia Tech. Mark is a licensed professional engineer and holds four U.S. patents.
