Gene joined Sands Capital Ventures in 2019. Before joining Sands Capital, Gene co-founded two venture capital firms and raised four funds. He has served on 30 boards and been part of eleven IPOs as an investor, director, and operating executive. He was named to the first AlwaysOn “Venture Capital 100” list. Gene is a former Director of Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and was the Chairman of its annual Venture Capital Conference several times. Most recently, he spent five years as Vice-Chairman and an executive at EverFi, a leading education technology company. Before his venture capital career, he was Chief Operating Officer, General Manager, and CFO in several high growth technology companies. Gene received a B.S. degree from Penn State and an MBA from Loyola University of Maryland.
