Sands Capital Thanks Summer Interns and Externs
Talented students from universities across the country are supporting the investment, operations, and client service teams.
Contributors
Sands Capital has been fortunate to host 18 interns and four externs at the firm this summer—our largest class to date. The students work across the firm, supporting the investment, operations, and client relations teams across public and private markets.
A Valuable Partnership
We believe our internship and externship programs are valuable to both Sands Capital and the community. These programs allow us to strengthen our partnerships with schools and universities, while at the same time providing students with an opportunity to learn about business and the asset management industry and to make connections that may help launch their careers.
Our Program at a Glance
This year’s intern class is a mix of graduate students, recent graduates, and undergraduates, including both juniors and seniors.
Our graduate students are studying business at the University of Virginia’s Darden School, law at USC Gould School of Law, and international relations at Johns Hopkins University. Our undergraduate students are majoring in a variety of subjects including, mathematics, business administration, molecular biology, and social policy. The colleges they are attending include Berea College; Colby College; Duke; Dickinson College; George Mason University; Northwestern; Texas A&M; the University of California, Berkeley; the University of Michigan; the University of Tennessee at Knoxville; and Yale University.
The summer interns are a highly diverse team. Close to half of the group—47 percent—are women and 36 percent are international students from China, Colombia, India, Israel, Syria, and Uganda.
Fifty-nine percent of them speak two or more languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Luganda, Spanish, Tamil, and Urdu. Almost all of them have traveled the world, with the group having visited countries including Germany, India, Japan, Portugal, Rwanda, Sweden, South Korea, and Tanzania.
