Sands Capital Earns High Marks for Responsible Investment Practices

December 2, 2020

The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) released its 2020 assessment reports for investment manager signatories on July 30, 2020. Each year, signatories disclose their approach to responsible investment practices through the submission of a comprehensive transparency report. The PRI reviews each signatory’s practices from an absolute standpoint, and relative to peers, resulting in assessment scores for the year.

Sands Capital continues to demonstrate solid progress in its responsible investment practices by achieving all A scores.

PRI Assessment of Sands Capital

Strategy & Governance

Listed Equity – Incorporation

Listed Equity – Active Ownership

In the Strategy & Governance assessment, Sands Capital’s incorporation of ESG in the performance management and incentive program for our professionals was a pivotal attribute in achieving an A+ rating. In the Active Ownership assessment, increased public disclosure of our voting records was among a number of attributes that promoted a rating increase from B to A.

The Principles for Responsible Investment have become an internationally recognized benchmark for responsible investment practices. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) analysis has been an implicit aspect of Sands Capital’s fundamental, business-focused research since the founding of our firm in 1992. Sands Capital became a PRI signatory in 2017 to further demonstrate our commitment to responsible investment to all our stakeholders.
